The ION Hockey League’s new website: the number one source of information for our domestic hockey league

At the time of setting up the Top Hockey League (THL), the association of men’s and women's clubs in the Belgian Honour Division, its purpose was immediately clear: to help grow Belgian hockey and, together with the clubs, assess how the league can be improved even further. The fact that a special dynamic was instantly apparent between the THL and the Royal Belgian Hockey Association – they do not always serve the same interests – was crucial for further development into a top-level league.

With the launch of the ION Hockey League’s brand-new website, a new step can be taken towards the intended goal: working on expansion and raising the visibility of the league. They are fully conscious within the THL that they have in their possession a great product. After all, in Belgium in which sport do you get the opportunity to see Olympic champions, world champions and foreign elite players at work, week after week? Spectators attending a hockey match for the first time are immediately impressed by the speed and explosive power of the game.

The ION Hockey League intends to deliver the best level of competition in the world, but to do so having only elite hockey players at their disposal will not suffice. In order to achieve this, it is essential that the Belgian hockey landscape continues to become more professional in all respects. It is the responsibility of the THL to create a perfect framework in which the teams can continue to evolve. Contacts with the International Hockey Federation FIH are also essential. Because European clubs are an important part of the international hockey family, it is important for the FIH to take them into consideration. We should never intentionally have a situation where a player has to choose between the national squad or the club.

Advancing to the very top also gives rise to professional communication. The ION Hockey League’s new website must, therefore, be the number one source of information for every player, every fan and every supporter for everything relating to men’s and women’s competition in our country. This will enable us to give something back to the clubs and the hockey community in general. Because without the players and fans, there is no ION Hockey League.

Le nouveau site web de la ION Hockey League : LA source d’informations de notre compétition nationale de hockey

Lors de la création de la Top Hockey League (THL), l’association qui regroupe les clubs masculins et féminins de la division d’honneur belge, le but était tout de suite clair comme de l’eau de roche : faire progresser le hockey belge et réfléchir à la manière dont le championnat pourrait être amélioré, et ce, main dans la main avec les clubs. Le fait qu'une dynamique particulière ait immédiatement régné entre la THL et l’Association royale belge de hockey - ils ne servent pas toujours les mêmes intérêts - a été crucial dans la poursuite du développement d’un championnat de haut niveau.

Avec le lancement du tout nouveau site web de la ION Hockey League, une nouvelle étape peut être franchie vers l'objectif visé : travailler à élargir et à revoir la visibilité du championnat à la hausse. Dans les rangs de la THL, ils sont persuadés de détenir là un produit fantastique. En effet, quel autre sport en Belgique vous donne la chance de voir à l’œuvre semaine après semaine les champions olympiques, les champions du monde et les meilleurs joueurs étrangers ? Les spectateurs qui assistent pour la première fois à une rencontre de hockey sont immédiatement impressionnés par la rapidité et l’explosivité du jeu qui se déroule sous leurs yeux.

La ION Hockey League a pour ambition de devenir le meilleur championnat au monde, mais par ce faire, il ne suffit pas de disposer de joueurs-joueuses de hockey de haut niveau. Pour y parvenir, il est essentiel que le paysage du hockey belge continue à se professionnaliser à tous les niveaux. Il incombe à la THL de créer un cadre parfait dans lequel les différentes équipes pourront continuer à évoluer. Il en va de même des contacts avec la Fédération internationale de Hockey (FIH) qui sont essentiels. Étant donné que les clubs européens constituent des membres importants de la famille internationale de hockey, il est en effet plus que nécessaire que la FIH les prenne en compte. Un joueur ne devrait jamais avoir à choisir entre l'équipe nationale et son club.

Atteindre petit à petit le top absolu se traduit aussi par une communication professionnelle. Le nouveau site web de la ION Hockey League doit donc devenir LA source d'information par excellence pour chaque joueur, chaque fan et chaque sympathisant, et ce pour tout ce qui a trait à la compétition masculine et féminine dans notre pays. Nous pourrons de cette façon donner quelque chose en retour aux clubs et à la communauté du hockey dans son ensemble. Parce que la ION Hockey League n’existerait pas sans les joueurs et les fans.

De nieuwe website van de ION Hockey League: dé informatiebron voor onze nationale hockeycompetitie

Bij de oprichting van de Top Hockey League (THL), de vereniging van de mannen- en vrouwenclubs in de Belgische Eredivisie, was het opzet meteen duidelijk: het Belgische hockey laten groeien en samen met de clubs evalueren hoe het kampioenschap nog verbeterd kan worden. Het feit dat er tussen de THL en de Koninklijke Belgische Hockey Bond – zij dienen niet altijd dezelfde belangen – meteen een bijzondere dynamiek heerste was cruciaal om verder uit te groeien tot een kampioenschap van topniveau.

Met de lancering van de gloednieuwe website van de ION Hockey League kan een nieuwe stap richting het beoogde doel gezet worden: werken aan schaalvergroting én de visibiliteit van het kampioenschap verhogen. Binnen de THL is het bewustzijn groot dat ze een geweldig product in handen hebben. In welke sport in België krijg je week na week immers de kans om wereldkampioenen en buitenlandse topspelers- en speelsters aan het werk te zien? Toeschouwers die voor het eerst een hockeywedstrijd bezoeken zijn direct onder de indruk van de snelheid en de explosiviteit van het geleverde spel.

De ION Hockey League wil uitgroeien tot de beste competitie ter wereld en dan volstaat het echter niet om alleen over tophockeyers- en hockeysters te beschikken. Om dat te verwezenlijken is het essentieel dat het Belgische hockeylandschap op alle vlakken verder professionaliseert. Het is de taak van de THL om een perfect kader te creëren waarin de teams verder kunnen evolueren. Ook de contacten met de Internationale Hockeyfederatie FIH zijn essentieel. Omdat de Europese clubs een belangrijk deel vormen van de internationale hockeyfamilie, is het immers belangrijk dat de FIH met hen rekening houdt. Het mag nooit de bedoeling zijn dat een speler moet kiezen tussen de nationale ploeg of de club.

Doorgroeien naar de absolute top vertaalt zich ook in professionele communicatie. De nieuwe website van de ION Hockey League moet daarom voor elke speler, elke fan en elke sympathisant dé informatiebron worden voor alles wat te maken heeft met de mannen- en vrouwencompetitie in ons land. Op die manier kunnen we iets teruggeven aan de clubs en de hockey community in het algemeen. Want zonder spelers en fans is er ook geen ION Hockey League.
